Systems & Success: Major Gifts

Featuring Kim Jennings, CFRE
November 5 & 12
1:00-3:00 p.m. CT

The Association for Christian Fundraising is presenting another edition of the Virtual Master Class Series, which provides continuing education and engagement throughout the year. This installment will be led by experienced facilitator Kim Jennings, CFRE.

While master classes were previously only available to attendees of the annual Faith &
Fundraising Conference, we're now bringing them to you in a convenient, accessible format.

This course is structured to meet the needs of
fundraising professionals ranging from solo fundraisers wearing every hat to leaders of established teams, and a mixed level of experience, from those new to major gift work to those refining an existing program. The two sessions build on each other. Session One equips every participant with the same fundamental system scaffolding and the same language for talking about it. Session Two is where the system is applied to real-world needs, helping participants create a personalized, actionable plan to begin putting to immediate use.

Enhance your professional development journey - the course will be submitted for 4.0 CFRE CE Points.

What You'll Learn

Based on research and trends over the past several years, your list of active donors may be shrinking every year, even if you’re hitting your dollar goals. What’s happening there? You’re working hard. But something’s missing. What steps can you take to create a sustainable giving culture that meets your funding needs AND doesn’t burn out you, your team, and your donors?

It takes systems designed to identify, cultivate, invite, and steward funding partners who are passionate about your mission. It takes training to do each of those steps with excellence. It takes discipline to follow through when the demands of your role pull you in 700 directions away from donor work. Each of these principles and steps must be taken, regardless of the size of your development team.

We’ve designed this two-part master class to equip you for optimal development results. The first session will provide a comprehensive framework, and the second session will build on that knowledge and address typical specific needs based on different team sizes.

In the first session of this two-part class, we’ll cover critical fundamentals. First, we’ll go over a universal system upon which any organization can build their development program. The key concepts are applicable to any size shop for any type of organization. Next, we’ll go through the basic steps of a major donor cycle, including resources for how anyone can approach a potential donor to invite them to give.

The second session of this master class will address additional content, plus discussion and action-planning based on applying the concepts realistically, tailored to the size of your team.

Resources will be provided.

Day 1 - November 5 - 1:00-3:00 p.m. CT

Session Goal: By the end of Session One, every participant — regardless of team size — will understand the universal system behind sustainable major gift results, know the basic steps of the major donor cycle, and have concrete resources for approaching a donor with an invitation to give.

Day 2 - November 12 - 1:00-3:00 p.m. CT

Session Goal: By the end of this session, participants will have an action plan for developing and implementing a major gift program established on best practices but built around what a team of their size can realistically sustain.
