big-east-boat-ride-2017-1Hello Big East Chapter!

The date of the 2018 Boat Cruise is FRIDAY, JUNE 22, 2018

This is the only date that is available via our hosts: Pastor Gary & Ken. We are sorting out the final details. However, we can generally plan to meet at Chelsea Piers around 10 a.m. and return around 4:30 p.m.. This is a breezy day of networking, fellowship, laughs and fun!

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

April 2018 Big East Chapter Notes

Happy Easter, Big East Chapter Members!
I hope you are enjoying the holiday season, and thanks for being such an integral part of the Big East Chapter! It was so nice to see many of you at the IGNITE: Minneapolis 2018 conference last month. We had a great (and FUN!) chapter meeting while at the conference. Special congratulations to Lindsay Fertig-Johnson, Campaign Coordinator at Concordia College in Bronxville, who is our new Treasurer! We look forward to Lindsay’s added involvement in the Chapter and appreciate all of Roger Dow’s (Concordia Seminary, St. Louis) work as our past Treasurer for many years.
Also, special thanks to our very own Jane Lottes (LuHi), who agreed to be our Chapter Advocate.  More information on both of these positions to follow at our next meeting.
BOAT CRUISE!!! We are working with our Host/Captain and are looking at: Wednesday, June 13, 2018, or Friday, June 22, 2018.  These are the two dates that we selected as a group in Minneapolis. I will forward the confirmed date as soon as we hear back.
Lutheran Social Services of New York is hosting our 13th Annual Award Celebration in which our colleague Marlene Lund (Center for Urban Education Ministries), will be honored with The Servant Leadership Award for her 45 Years of Service to Lutheran ministries. She will also be retiring at the end of June 2018. Marlene will be honored on Monday, April 23, at the New York Athletic Club from 6:00-10:00 p.m. If you are interested in attending and are unable to purchase a ticket, please contact me as we have a few tickets that have been donated back to us. All of the details on our website at
Again, Happy Easter and thanks for being a part of the Big East Chapter!
